U.S ambassador to Azerbaijan: USA is anxious about tension on contact line

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 9, ARMENPRESS. The U. S ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Secuta announced in the meeting with journalists in Baku, that USA is anxious about the increase of the tension on the contact line of the troops.

As “Armenpress” reports, citing APA news agency, Secuta said that USA does not consider the Nagorno Karabakh conflict as “frozen”.

Mentioning that OSCE Minsk group French, American and Russian Co-chairs work over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Robert Secuta said:

“The conflict cannot be considered as “frozen” If people die. We work with the sides for the peaceful resolution of the conflict. All the sides should take measures to reduce the tension and to resolve the conflict”.

The ceasefire agreement signed at the request of Azerbaijan came into force on July 12, 1994. Currently, negotiations over the conflict settlement are conducted by the mediation of OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs (Russia, USA, France) based on the Madrid Principles proposed in 2007.

Azerbaijan has not fulfilled the 4 resolution of 1993 by the UN Security Council yet, continuing to incite arms race and harshly violating the principles of international right of not using force or threat of using force.

Armenia is confident that it is impossible to increase the productivity of the settlement process without the full participation of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic in the negotiations. The latter is a party of the conflict.
