Serzh Sargsyan and Gianni Buquicchio discuss further steps of Constitutional reforms process
YEREVAN, OCTOBER 8, ARMENPRESS. The President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, received the President of “European Commission for Democracy through Law” (Venice Commission) Gianni Buquicchio on October 8. The latter arrived in Armenia to participate in International conference convened by the Constitutional court of the Republic of Armenia.
As “Armenpress” was informed from the Department of Information and Mass Media of the President’s Staff of the Republic of Armenia, the President of the Republic greeted the guest and mentioned with satisfaction that years of effective cooperation with the delegation headed by Buquicchio has positively affected Armenia.
Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude to those members of the Venice Commission who cooperated and delivered high-quality experts assistance to the Specialized Commission on Constitutional Reforms adjunct to the President of the Republic of Armenia. The jointly elaborated document was also approved by the National Assembly a few days ago.
Gianni Buquicchio highly appreciated the cooperation with Armenia and emphasized that the only aim of the Venice Commission, as a neutral, impartial and non political body, is ensuring democracy. He also hoped that the process of referendum will be free, fair and transparent and the document adopted by it will be a step forward for establishing democracy.
