Major-General Hayk Kotanjian: President’s speech at UN stressed content and scale of Armenia’s 
readiness

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 7, ARMENPRESS. President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan showed his political and diplomatic skills during the address he made at the UN.

Head and founder of the Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS) of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia , Major-General Hayk Kotanjian expressed such an opinion emphasizing that President stressed the serious attitude of Armenia toward the on-going processes simultaneously showing that the country was ready for further coordinated steps.

“It was a message addressed to corresponding acting persons in the region to perceive properly the content and scale of Armenia’s readiness,” “Armenpress” reports, Kotanjian stated.

In regard to frequent ceasefire regime violations on the part of Azerbaijan which fired at different parts of Armenia, Major-General Hayk Kotanjian noted that there was certain reaction related to that.  

“Our Foreign and Defense Ministers have made corresponding statements and started dialogues with our allies and partners not only in bilateral but also multilateral format. As you know, there has been great activeness within the CSTO recently, we had military exercises in Armenia and in this context we also had a possibility to discuss the latter on international level,” Kotanjian added.

Major-General also talked about Presidnet Sargsyan’s statements at the UN and the CSTO about Armenia’s readiness of assuming new peacekeeping commitments which spoke of the quality and development of our peacekeeping forces.

On September 29, President Serzh Sargsyan partook in the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, where he made an address. He noted in his speech that Azerbaijan completely disdained 5 joint Statement issued by the Presidents of the U.S., Russia and France, and the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group and if it continued such an aggressive policy, it would not leave Armenia any other choice but to take necessary legal and political-military steps to provide the Republic of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh Republic with the opportunity to develop in security and peace.
