YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, ARMENPRESS. First Deputy Defense Minister of the Republic of Armenia,Davit Tonoyan, received the delegation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kingdom of Sweden headed by deputy director of Eastern European and Central Asian Department Therese Hayden on October 5. As “Armenpress” was informed from the Department of Information and Public Affairs of the Defense Ministry of Armenia, the current phase and prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in defense sector were discussed during the meeting. Particularly, the parties highlighted the cooperation both in the framework of the European Union and NATO partnership.

At the request of the Swedish side, Davit Tonoyan introduced the current situation on Armenia-Azerbaijan border and on the contact line of Karabakh-Azerbaijan forces, as well as the recent provocative measures by Azerbaijan aimed to destabilize the front line. The interlocutors expressed concern over escalation of situation on the contact line, usage of large caliber weapons, shelling the civilian facilities, and reconfirmed their position on exclusive peaceful conflict settlement within the framework of OSCE Minsk Group.
