Industrial production grows by 4.4%

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, ARMENPRESS. The industrial sectors of Armenia’s economy have produced output worth 827 billion 878.9 million drams (over $1 billion 749.7 million) during the period of January-August of 2014, which is an increase of 4.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.

As “Armenpress” was informed from the National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia, the highest growth, 35.1%, was recorded in the sphere of quarrying and mining industry the output of which was worth 143 billion 916.5 million drams during the first 8 months of 2015. The output of process industry  declined by 2.9%, reaching 520 billion 477.7 million drams. This sector covered 62.9% of the entire industrial sector.

In contrast to process industry, communal infrastructures have recorded positive progress: the output of electricity, gas and stream was worth 149 billion 929.5 million drams during he same period which is a rise of 2.8%.
