Protest action in front of parliament continues: 21 have been detained

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, ARMENPRESS. The police have detained 21 members of the protest action against the Constitutional Reforms. As “Armenpress” reports the participants of the action attempted to attach the poster with “No” inscription on the hedge of the National Assembly, which the police tried to forbid.

As a result, clashes between the protesters and the police began. In the end the police succeeded in taking the poster from the hands of the protesters.

Head of Armenian National Congress Levon Zourabian approached Deputy Chief of Yerevan Police Valery Osipyan trying to find out why the police tried to prevent the protesters from attaching the poster on the hedge of the National Assembly. Osipyan clarified that the participants must have had permission from the authorized body allowing them to attach the poster on the hedge.

Currently the protest action of “We will not pass” is held in front of the National Assembly. The participants of the action declare that they will stay in front of the NA as long as the voting for the issue of putting the draft Constitutional Reforms to a referendum is finished. The situation is calm for now.
