Azerbaijani journalist: Azerbaijani people lost trust towards Defense Ministry of the country

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 1, ARMENPRESS.  Famous journalist in Azerbaijan Chingiz Sultansoy, commenting on Azerbaijan Defense Ministry’s recent notification that it would not make any comments for the mass media representatives “disseminating” publications of Armenian media, announced that such a stance demonstrates the weakness of the Ministry.

As “Armenpress” reports, Chingiz Sultansoy said in an interview with moderator.az, that it is necessary to publish grounded and meaningful information in order to conduct the current information war correctly,

The journalist expressed regret that the press service of Azerbaijani Defense Ministry does not manage “to do that job” with honor.

“It is a pity that people do not trust in the information provided by our Defense Ministry. It is explained by the fact that the negative incidents in the army are often hidden or misinformation is provided. As a result, people lose their trust towards the Defense Ministry,” Chingiz Sultansoy said, adding that often the Defense Ministry accuses the journalists of that which is an absolutely wrong approach.

““Personally I do not believe that the journalists illustrating the negative incidents in the army are to be blamed for those cases rather than the officers and officials responsible for the soldiers’ non-combat deaths. May it be so that those officers are more patriotic than the journalists?” Sultansoy stressed.

The journalist advised the Defense Minister of Azerbaijan Zakir Hasanov to conduct serious cadre reforms to restore the lost reputation of the Ministry and not to hide non-combat death cases in the army.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry announced yesterday that it will not make any comments for “some mass media representatives disseminating Armenian information”.

Azerbaijani analyst Elkhan Mehdiyev told Moderator.az that “Azerbaijan lags behind Armenia in the information war”. According to him “the world hears the voice of Armenians more” and “the international society receives more information from Armenian mass media”.

Azerbaijan continues its policy to hide the casualties and emergency situations occurring in its own armed forces. In spite of it, according to the information of the sources of the Defense Ministry of Armenia and the Defense Army of Nagorno Karabakh, as well as non official sources, 20 more servicemen have been killed in Azerbaijan within the last two weeks as a result of retributive measures by the Armenian side in addition to the 114 killed from the start of the year.
