YEREVEN, SEPTEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. The President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, conducted a consultation with the participation of Tavush Governor and his staff on September 16. The consultation referred to the social-economic conditions of Tavush Province, existing problems and development programs.

As “Armenpress” was informed from the Department of Information and Mass Media of the President’s Staff of the Republic of Armenia, the President of the Republic mentioned that similar consultations will be conducted also for other provinces, and though meetings with Tavush Governor to discuss regional issues have been periodic till now, the President expects to hear a more detailed report for separate sectors.

“The reason is very clear. I have noticed that the problems that find solutions, development trends that exist in the province, and especially the problems, which solutions are delayed, are often not available or not clear for our citizens, for those who are the first beneficiaries of those solutions. Therefore, I want these discussions to be continued inside the province, especially in large communities, without my presence, so that the problems become visible for the people. In Addition, I would like you to give some information about the problems of the province the solutions of which you consider priority”, Serzh Sargsyan said at the beginning of the consultation.

Governor Hovik Abovyan, expressing gratitude for the opportunity, mentioned that quite a lot of works have been done in Tavush Province, but border communities have some problems. “Last year there were 24 border communities which were granted with appropriate privileges by tour assignments. After the privileges were granted we now have quite inspiring situation in those communities”, said Tavush Governor. He reported on the social-economic conditions, problems and priorities of the province.

At the end of the consultation the President gave a number of assignments. Particularly, the assignments to the Governor referred to agriculture, improving recreational attraction, education and so on. Special attention was paid to those who had been hit by the August 1-6 shooting. The President assigned to rapidly (within 10 days) evaluate the damage inflicted to the 13 bordering communities and submit an application to the Government for financial assistance.
