Davit Babayan sees connection between border tension and upcoming parliamentary elections in
Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS. Nagorno Karabakh President's spokesman Davit Babayan links the continuous tension on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan. “The Azerbaijani authorities escalate the conflict on the eve of the upcoming parliamentary elections aimed to gain extra votes trying to blame the external enemy for the problems of the country”, “Armenpress” reports that Babayan mentioned by a video-call during a discussion held in the Media-center, adding that Azerbaijan has fully turned into a Nazi state which demonstrates aggressive policies in both domestic and foreign affairs.

He mentioned that the situation is under control on Armenia-Azerbaijan border and the Azerbaijani armed forces do not reach any advantage and they cannot.

The Azerbaijani side intensively breaks the ceasefire regime in both Armenia-Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan-Karabakh front line for several days but the Defense Ministry assures that there are no precise signs for launching large scale military operations. On September 2 the enemy kept bordering villages under fire for hours using weapons of different calibers and snipers. Two civilians were injured and one contract soldier, Hayk Tevoyan, was killed.
