Seyran Ohanyan: Army Corps Command takes all steps to restrain enemy

YEREVA, SEPTEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. Armenia-Azerbaijan border line is entirely under Armenian Armed Forces control. The Defense Minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan told about this in an interview with journalists referring to the latest cases of ceasefire violation in the direction of the bordering communities of Tavush Province. One contract soldier died and two civilians were injured during the shooting.

“The particularity of the recent days is that bordering communities of Armenia are fired at, particularly the villages of Tavush Province. No doubt, the units of the Armenian Armed Forces do their best to prevent those inhumane phenomena, because peaceful settlements are kept under fire. Unfortunately, our bordering configuration is set so that in some places, where the rival has positional privileges, makes use of it firing from positions. At this moment the situation is calm”, Ohanyan said.

The Defense Minister emphasized that the Army Corps Command takes all steps to restrain the enemy.

Answering the question about material losses Seyran Ohanyan mentioned that the MOD of the Republic of Armenia together with the local authorities try to make clear the amount of the losses in order to provide them with adequate assistance.

At the same time the Minister informed that in connection with the “Shant-2015” military exercises a National Security Council session was convened at 18:00 chaired by the President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan.
