YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. The 72nd Venice International Film Festival, organized by La Biennale di Venezia, runs on Venice Lido from 2nd to 12th September 2015, directed by Alberto Barbera.

“Armenpress” reports that red carpet of the Venice Film Festival was filled with Italian actors as well as the jury of the festival. Despite the heat many fans came to greet the stars. Co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Emily Watson and “Everest” director Baltasar Kormakur stole the show at the festival opening. “Everest” is based on the real events of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster. “Everest”  will have the honor of opening the 72nd Venice International Film Festival

The festival presents 72 films including Marco Bellocchio’s "Blood of My Blood”.

One of the premiers of the festival includes “The Danish Girl” by Tom Hooper. The Danish Girl is an American biographical drama film directed by Tom Hooper, based on the 2000 novel of the same name by David Ebershoff. The film stars Eddie Redmayne as Lili Elbe, one of the first known recipients of sexual reassignment surgery, Alicia Vikander as Gerda Wegener, along with Matthias Schoenaerts as Hans Axgil and Ben Whishaw

Director Alfonso Cuarón is the President of the International Jury for the Venezia 72 Competition.
