YEREVAN, SETEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Armenia, Ivan Volinkin, commented on the recent tense situation in the conflict zone of the NK. “I see no consistency connected with the recent intensification in the conflict zone of the NK and I cannot say which are the causes”, in an interview with “Armenpress” the Ambassador said, adding that occasionally tension rises on the contact line of the NK conflict zone.

The situation on Armenia-Azerbaijan and Artsakh-Azerbaijan border remains tense but the Armenian Army makes successful counterattacks and preserves calmness on the border. On September 1, Defense Minister of th Republic of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan informed that in recent days the rival had made use of mortars and made attempts of subversive actions which were successfully prevented.

“There is tension on the border. The number of shots increases and decreases from time to time and recently they have been firing toward Artsakh border from mortars.  The Armed Forces of Armenia take all the necessary measures on the frontline: security provision issues, following the rival and taking the necessary preventive measures. The rival made several attempts of subversive actions which were successfully prevented. ”, said Ohanyan.
