Triple conjunction observed in the sky

Triple conjunction observed in the sky

YEREVAN, AUGUST 6, ARMENPRESS. Celestial conjunction, when 3 planets are observed close to each other, can be seen from different angles of the world. On August 6 Venus, Uranus and Mars can be observed close to each other.

The Armenian Astronomical Society informed Armenpress that it would be possible to observe the brightest planet of the Solar System – Venus – as well as Uranus and Mars.

The 3 planets will be arranged in the shape of a triangle. Mars can be observed with the naked eye. However, to see Uranus you have to use a telescope.

A conjunction is a set of circumstances where two celestial bodies appear to be very close together in the sky. Conjunctions therefore involve two Solar System bodies, or one Solar System body and one more distant object such as a star. A conjunction is an apparent phenomenon caused by perspective only: there is no close physical approach in space between the two objects involved. Conjunctions between two bright objects close to the ecliptic, such as two bright planets, can be easily seen with the naked eye and can attract some public interest.

A celestial conjunction of the 3 planets was observed in May, 2011 and the next one will be on August 28, 2015.
