YEREVAN, AUGUST 3, ARMENPRESS. U.S. President Barack Obama has decided to allow airstrikes to defend Syrian rebels, if they are attacked by the government forces or other groups. Armenpress reports the abovesaid, citing The Wall Street Journal.

As the Wall Street Journal mentions, the decision deepens the danger of U.S armed forces entering into direct conflict with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime. It is also noted that the U.S. administration officials are greatly concerned that the Pentagon, defending Syrian rebels with military forces, can unintentionally enter into direct conflict with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government.
