YEREVAN, JULY 31, ARMENPRESS. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan received the participants of the project of the Ministry of Diaspora “Diaspora summer school-2015”. The school is organized to preserve and strengthen the national identity in Armenian Diaspora communities, to improve the knowledge of the Armenian language among the youth, to support the activities of Diaspora mass media and to support the self-organization of the Armenian communities. The Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan was also present at the meeting.

As “Armenpress” was informed from the Information and Public Relations Department of the Government Staff of the Republic of Armenia, the head of the government, welcoming the guests, highlighted the implementation of the project and its continuation. ‘This is a platform that gives an opportunity to interact with each other and to strengthen the Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora ties. It is a priority issue for the government and we will spare no efforts or material resources to strengthen our ties and contacts in this format. It stems from the interests of our state and I consider this a patriotic project”, the PM mentioned.

The Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan emphasized that it is already three years that the “Diaspora summer school-2015” project is implemented: At the beginning funding for 150 people was allocated but the size of funding doubled in 2014 by the assignment of Prime Minister Abrahamyan.

The participants of the “Diaspora summer school-2015” project thanked the Prime Minister and the Minister of Diaspora for warm acceptance and for the appropriate organization of events. After that an exchange of ideas took place during which the head of the government answered the questions of the Diaspora Armenians. They referred to the foreign and domestic policy priorities, economic development, and improvement of business environment, repatriation issues, regional situation and developments and peace settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

The Prime Minister, summing up his speech, urged the participants of the summer always to remain in contact with each other and their motherland, often to visit Armenia and to continue the difficult but honorable task of preserving the Armenian identity abroad.
