Government of Armenia and UN sign new 5-year cooperation program

YEREVAN, JULY 31, ARMENPRESS.  “Armenia-Organization of United Nations:   Development Assistance 2016-2020” program was signed at the Government of the Republic of Armenia on July 31. The document was signed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan and UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for the Republic of Armenia Bradley Busetto.

As “Armenpress” was informed from the Information and Public Relations Department of the Government Staff of the Republic of Armenia, during the signing ceremony of the document Hovik Abrahamyan mentioned with satisfaction that Armenia has had significant progress in the implementation of Millennium Development Goals. According to the PM, the Armenian Government gives great importance to the “post 2015 development agenda” and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is ready to nationalize and initiate the implementation of these objectives after they are adopted this year in September.

“We have gathered today also to praise the start of the new phase of Armenia-UN cooperation. The UN   Development Assistance 2016-2020 framework document is a road-book for cooperation between Armenia and the UN for the next 5 years”, Hovik Abrahamyan said.

Bradley Busetto, at his turn, mentioned that this document forms the borders of cooperation between Armenia and the UN and reflects the vision of cooperation.

The budget of the 5-year program is 119 million USD.
