Hundred and eighty Syrian-Armenian children to spend their holiday in Armenian camps

YEREVAN, JULY 31, ARMENPRESS. Hundred and eighty Syrian-Armenian children will spend their holiday in Armenian camps at the expense of different benefactors. The Director of the Department of Armenian Communities of the Near East and Middle East Levon Antonyan informed about this on July 31, during the regular session of the Interdepartmental Commission Coordinating Syrian-Armenians’ Issues headed by the Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan.

“The children that have moved to Armenia as a result of the Syrian war continue to remain in the focus of the Ministry of Diaspora, particularly regarding the integration issue of the children who moved from Syria to Armenia during the previous months. The main aim of organizing summer camps is to recover the psychological conditions of the children and faster integration into Armenian life by socialization with local children”, Levon Antonyan mentioned.

The head of the department mentioned that 80 Syrian-Armenian children of 8-15 years will spend their holiday with local children in the children camp “Gugark” starting from August 15 and 100 Syrian-Armenians in the “Tiramayr Hayastan” center in Tsaghkadzor starting from August 20.

He also added that only this year 78 boys and girls from Syria participated in the camp of the project “Come home”.
