“Mount Ararat-symbol of Armenia”. Reportage of “France 2” about Ararat

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS. The French  “France 2“ public TV channel prepared a reportage about the Biblical Mount Ararat. As “Armenpress” reports, citing the website of the channel, in the reportage “Mount Ararat-symbol of Armenia” is mentioned that Armenians worship the ancient volcano which is of great interest to the world. “France 2” personnel visited the place, where, according to the legend, Noah's Ark had landed. Hundreds of people, including Armenians, try to climb this mountain every year.

“The Mount Ararat is part of our life. It is more than a mountain for us”, Armenian climber Vardan Kyurumyan said.

The TV channel spotlights the adoration of Armenians towards the mountain and mentions that the name “Ararat” can be found anywhere in Armenia: on the roof of a factory, pediments of hotels, and even on a cigarette box. “France 2” adds also that the border between the mountain and its devotees is closed. Armenia and Turkey have no diplomatic ties, and Armenians have to cross the territory of Georgia to reach Ararat.

Armenian music is also heard during the reportage.
