Permanent border control to operate in CIS countries to neutralize threat of IS

YEREVAN, JULY 29, ARMENPRESS. Permanent supervision over those people who will be suspected in being a participant of terror activities will be imposed on the borders of CIS member states. As “Armenpress” reports, citing TASS, the statement was made by the head of the CIS Anti-Terror Center, Colonel-General Andrey Novikov, mentioning particularly the rising threat from the terrorist organization “Islamic state”.

Novikov emphasized that the “Islamic State” claims to impose its influence over the CIS member South Caucasian and Central Asian countries as well as over the southern parts of Russia.

“Among the CIS countries the IS has territorial claims from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Uzbekistan as well as Russia which are included in the Southern, North Caucasian and Crimean federal okrugs”, Novikov underlined.

According to the Colonel-General, the IS agents are striving to enter the universities of the CIS countries and the mission is not to allow such developments.
