Freedom House: Azerbaijan ranks 3rd as most authoritarian among former USSR countries
17:55, 27 July 2015YEREVAN, JULY 27, ARMENPRESS. The International human rights organization Freedom House mentioned in its annual report about human rights in the world that Azerbaijan is one of the most authoritarian among the former USSR countries. It comes after Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
“An authoritarian regime rules Azerbaijan which is illustrated by intolerance towards populism and neglect towards civil and political rights”, is said in the report.
A number of strategic allies of Azerbaijan have expressed concern over strengthening the repression on the civil society but the administration confidently denies and criticism about the violation of human rights.
