YEREVAN, JULY 27, ARMENPRESS. Azerbaijan tries to shape an environment in the negotiation process relying on a kind of blackmail based on its big stockpile of arms in order to be reckoned with, which is impossible according to National Assembly deputy, Chair of NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan as the negotiations have logic, points and principles. In an interview with “Armenpress” the deputy linked the rise of tension on the border with that fact. At the same time, Zakaryan reminds the right to self-determination, which is an inviolable right, as a principle of peace settlement. “The solution of the conflict will be given taking into account just that principle and Azerbaijan, in order to blackmail its inner audience and the international community, has adopted that method, which is impermissible for two reasons. First, Azerbaijan’s expectation will not come into existence because the Armenian Armed Forces control the situation along the entire border. Besides, the negotiation process does not give in to blackmail, as the co-chairs clearly understand Azerbaijan’s language and realize what Azerbaijan wants to get”, emphasized Zakaryan.

“We call the international community to keep Azerbaijan in the center of attention constantly and not to allow Azerbaijan to distort the peace process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. We call the international community to support the Minsk Group format and not to be confused by the fraudulent activities of Azerbaijan. The international community, those who are interested in the peaceful settlement of the NK conflict, must force Azerbaijan to preserve the ceasefire regime, not to prepare new adventures and not to intensify the situation on the border”, Artak Zakaryan said.

Since the European games in Baku the Armenia-Azerbaijan and Artsakh-Azerbaijan border has been tense. Azerbaijan violates the ceasefire especially by large-caliber weapons and intensifies the situation on the border.
