President of Republic of Armenia urges European institutions to refuse putting an equality sign in Nagorno-Karabakh issue

President of Republic of Armenia urges European institutions to refuse putting an equality sign in
Nagorno-Karabakh issue

YEREVAN, JULY 20, ARMENPRESS. At the joint press conference with Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council, the president of the Republic of Armenia urged European institutions to refuse putting an equality sign in Nagorno-Karabakh issue. According to the President, it was a “great gift” from the Azerbaijani government to host the European Games ensuring peace and stability during that period both in the contact line with Artsakh and on the Armenian border. However, it was not peace and stability but a delusion of peace and stability.

As Armenpress reports, Serzh Sargsyan stated:

“I am saying that it was a gift because it was the last drop, due to which the international community found out who creates tension, who can stop violating the ceasefire. This is really important. I turn to European institutions to refuse putting an equality sign in Nagorno-Karabakh issue. When there is an equality sign and when people have a feeling of impunity, people get detached from the earth.  This is the reason why the President of Azerbaijan allows himself such an arrogant speech. I am sure that in spite of the attractiveness of the smell of gas and the taste of caviar to many people in European institutions, we will come to the right path.  Otherwise, if we go on like this, if we excuse the Azerbaijani president’s words and actions we must turn to William Saroyan’s words “Something’s wrong somewhere”.”
