46 detainees set free: Police

YEREVAN, JULY 6, ARMENPRESS: 46 people were detained during the restoration of the traffic on the Baghramyan Avenue, 6 of them underage. “The Police of the Republic of Armenia detained 46 people, 6 of them underage and they were immediately set free. The others are being released at this moment”, - stated the Head of the Department for Information and Public Relations of the Police of the Republic of Armenia Ashot Aharonyan.
The Armenpress correspondent reports from the Baghramyan Avenue that the police detained also the activist Argishti Kiviryan, who after the opening of the avenue again wanted to close one of its busy parts, though the police did not allow him to do it.
Earlier it was reported that the police opened the traffic part of Baghramyan Avenue. The participants of the sit strike were removed from the middle of the avenue and the first cars passed. The police did it, as it was promised, without using violence, though to remove the participants of the rally, it was necessary to raise them and move to the sidewalk. The deputies of the National Assembly Nikol Pashinyan, Naira Zohrabyan, Vahe Enfiajyan and the representatives of public organizations were at the site.
Armenpress reported that several activists were detained by the police. The number of them is not known yet.
