YEREVAN, JUNE 29, ARMENPRESS. The delegation led by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov, composed of the NA deputies Tatshat Vardapetyan, Gagik Melikyan and Artsvik Minasyan, met with Vladimir Andreychenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus within the framework of the visit to the Republic of Belarus on June 29. As Armenpress informs citing “Parliament.am,” the sides discussed issues concerning the further development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, highlighted the activities of the Inter-parliamentary Committee and the cooperation at international parliamentary platforms, particularly, in the CSTO Parliamentary and the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assemblies in the course of the meeting. Mr Sharmazanov considered closer cooperation of the parliamentarians over the issues of key importance for the two countries at international parliamentary platforms necessary.

Touching upon the NK conflict settlement in the context of regional stability and security Eduard Sharmazanov condemned the solution of the conflicts through military means and deemed inadmissible the military rhetoric of Azerbaijan. Vladimir Andreychenko in his turn has noted that Belarus is exclusively for the peaceful settlement of the NK problem within the OSCE Minsk Group format.

The NA Deputy Speaker considered unique the current year for the Armenian people: ahead of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. To his assessment, that is important for the Armenian people and the international community not only to once again get the meaning of the historical facts, but also in terms of saying “never more” to similar crimes. The NA Deputy Speaker considered necessary the united struggle against Nazi ideology, fascism and xenophobia.

During the meeting the sides also referred to the development of the inter-parliamentary relations and the issues regarding the political and economic ties of the two countries.
