Armenia’s ruling party spokesman excludes Maidan, but not opportunity of suspending electricity price hike

Armenia’s ruling party spokesman excludes Maidan, but not opportunity of
suspending electricity price hike

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS. The struggle of action in Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue is not political; this is a struggle for the civil rights protection. The Spokesman of the Republican Party of Armenia Edward Sharmazanov stated this following the session of Armenia’s ruling party executive body. “The conversations saying that there can be Maidan in Armenia are far from being true,” Eduard Sarmazanov said.

Among other things, Sharmazanov highlighted that the Armenian authorities assess positively the peaceful action of the Armenian citizens, as well as the cooperation of the Police and the protestors. “Our citizens came together there; they are our brothers and sisters and we asses that action positively.”

Asked if the step of conducting audit in the Electric Networks of Armenia means that the decision on the price hike will be suspended before the end of the audit, Sharmazanov noted that he is not the relevant official to make such a statement. “I think, you’ll know, when the issue is under discussion. I’m not the right person to say about this. Increasing the electricity price by AMD 6-7 doesn’t mean that one should stop searching for other way out,” Sharmazanov emphasized.
