Aleppo-Armenians do not want to be deported

Aleppo-Armenians do not want to be deported

YEREVAN, 05 JUNE, ARMENPRESS. The Aleppo-Armenian community is almost in fragmented condition, but a small number of Armenians living there do not want to leave their homes and to be displaced.

As “Armenpress” reports, according to the Deputy Chairman of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party's board of Armenia Vazgen Mesropyan, 15,000 Armenians live in Syria at this moment. They are obliged to stay in Aleppo, because they don’t have opportunities to leave Aleppo. "Aleppo Armenians are against the deportation. We do not want to be deported. We do not want to follow the Turkish politics. The displacement is the result of the Turkish policy. We do not want to be displaced for the second and third time,” he underlined.

The Director of the Cilician Secondary School of Aleppo Ani Melkonyan stresses that Aleppo is the most damaged community in the last four years, and many schools were closed due to the drastic drop of the pupils’ number. "Our College constantly was bombarded and we were afraid. So we came out of the College and continued our classes in a safer place - in our club. We don’t have electricity, we teach our lessons under candle, we don’t have the means of heat the rooms. The rest of the families in Aleppo are in very poor condition. They sold what they had. They sleep and wake up under the bombings and the bombardments have increased. Many people are unable to come out, because they don’t have means. It is impossible to endure any longer, we live in fear and horror," she noted.
