YEREVAN, 26 MAY, ARMENPRESS. On May 25, the delegation led by Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov, who is on a working visit to Tokyo, had a meeting with Deputy Director General of the Institute of Economics of Russia and newly independent states of ROBOTO Hiroshi Takahashi. As the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, during the meeting, the sides discussed the trade and economic relations between Japan and Armenia, particularly issues related to the creation of committees on trade and economy, the activation of relations between Japanese and Armenian businessmen, as well as the holding of joint business forums.

The parliamentary delegation’s next meeting was with Parliamentary Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Takao Makino. The interlocutors touched upon the perspectives of the deepening of cooperation in several sectors and attached importance to the opening of the Japanese embassy in Yerevan in January of this year, which is contributing to further deepening of the friendly relations established through combined efforts. At the end of the meeting, Eduard Sharmazanov granted the Commemorative Medal of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia to Takao Makino for supporting the development of the Armenian-Japanese inter-parliamentary relations.

On the same day, the Armenian delegates also had a meeting with Deputy Director of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Kae Yanagisawa. The sides discussed the process of completion of the programs for the Japanese government’s technical assistance to Armenia and the perspectives of the implementation of new programs.
