US military to be represented in Georgia’s Independence Day events

YEREVAN, MAY 25, ARMENPRESS: According to Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli, May 26, the Georgian and US military will be represented together on Rustaveli Avenue on the Independence Day, Armenpress reports, citing the Inter Press News. The Minister made the abovementioned announcement at a press conference after meeting with US Army commander, Lt. Gen. Frederick Ben Hodges.

As she noted one of the most important, Georgian-American joint exercises ends today.

"We are honored to host the General, who is the reason for the success of these exercises", - said the Minister.

According to her, they had an interesting conversation about continuation of the exercises.

"He and the Chief of the General Staff have a lot of new innovative ideas, and I'm sure next year will be even more successful.

We also had the opportunity to talk about success of the Georgia-US bilateral relations. I think Georgia will see one of the best examples of this cooperation on May 26. American soldiers will be represented together with Georgian soldiers on our country's main square as a sign and confirmation of our cooperation, friendship, partnership and support, something that we have felt from the United States for two decades", - Khidasheli said.

She said that yesterday the President of Georgia awarded General Frederick Ben Hodges to confirm our respect and gratitude to the United States.
