Armenia’s bivector policy on security isn’t causing any problems for NATO

YEREVAN, 22 MAY, ARMENPRESS. There are no pretensions for exceptionalism in NATO’s partnership policy, and as in the case of Armenia, it will be possible to combine other collaborations. Armenia has a rather developed partnership with NATO, while being a member of the CSTO. This is what Head of Defense and Security Policy Division of the German Foreign Ministry Jasper Wieck said during a press conference in Yerevan. “This bivector policy doesn’t cause any problems at all. Armenia decides the combination of security policies and partnerships. NATO’s partnership policy isn’t targeted against any country. Moreover, Russia has also been NATO’s partner for more than two decades,” the speaker said, as “Armenpress” reports.

According to him, the other aspects of the philosophy of the NATO partnership is the depth and intensity by which the partnering country wants to collaborate. “The heads of states at the summit in Wales initiated the policy on perfection of the defense policy which reaffirmed that NATO provides different tools to NATO states for security and building defense capacities. However, this proposal is an approach guided by demand, and Armenia decides how to benefit from this proposal and to what extent,” Jasper Wieck added.
