YEREVAN, 6 MAY, ARMENPRESS. Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Ara Nazaryan assures that those who brutally killed 19-year-old student of the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Institute of Yerevan Haykaz Barseghyan will be fairly punished. This is what the deputy minister announced in response to leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party’s faction Naira Zohrabyan at the National Assembly. “About 20 days ago, I met the parents of the young man who was tortured and brutally killed. They expressed their serious concerns. They said the former deputy director of the Military Institute, whose son is directly linked to the crime, is trying to exert pressure on the investigation on the side in order to mitigate his son’s punishment as much as possible. I would like you to present any comprehensive information about the case, if you have any,” Naira Zohrabyan said, as “Armenpress” reports.

The deputy minister said he had also met with the parents of the deceased student’s parents and had listened to them. “This issue is not without our powers, but we do have a position on the issue. It is in our focus. We will follow up to make sure the culprits are fairly punished. The positions of the investigator and the military prosecutor remain unchanged. This is not only a social issue, but an issue that has to do with the Armed Forces,” Ara Nazaryan said.
