System of a Down to follow up a new album after 10 years

System of a Down to follow up a new album after 10 years

YEREVAN, MAY 6, ARMENPRESS. Since releasing their 2005 records "Mesmerize" and "Hypnotize," System of a Down hasn't had any plans on creating a new album follow up to it. Until this year when rumors go around that SOAD is thinking about releasing a new LP after 10 years.

As reports “Armenpress” citing kpopstarz.com, In a report by Kerrang, band vocalist Serj Tankian revealed that a potential new record is being thought of and that the group is still collecting ideas from each other. In addition to that, Tankian revealed that fans should expect a "leap" from their previous sound to the new one if ever they would release something new.

"There is an openness to working together again when we all have material that is mutually accepted," he says. "We don't have a set timeline or anything else to report. One think we do all agree upon is that it's gotta be a leap from what we've done before."

"After all, a band name like System of a Down with a single that talks about self-righteous suicide during that time seems too ominous in retrospect," Tankian continues referring to the release of Toxicity the same time 9/11 happened, which was weird for him.

Meanwhile, in a different report by RTT News, System Of A Down is currently regrouping as they take a look at what the band could possibly offer in the future.

"I'm not sure until the time comes where I can actually play them for the guys and see if it's something that vibes off them."

In line with this, while waiting for a new System Of A Down album, the band is going around the world doing some shows and even visiting Tankian's hometown in time for the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

"There has been talk, and we are going to play this tour, come back and we're going to see where we are," Tankian said. "If we have songs that work for System, if I have them and Malakian has them. The openness is there to work together, but we haven't made any particular plans that we can announce."
