Hakob Hakobyan released on his own recognizance

The former MP of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Hakobyan's precautionary measure has been replaced by an undertaking not to leave the country. Hakobyan’s lawyer Karen Vardanyan informed Armenpress about this. Hakobyan was accused of not fulfilling his tax obligations and illegal entrepreneurship. Yesterday, on 4 May, he was released.
“We submitted the petition, in response to which the body conducting the investigation decided to cancel the basis of the detention. Our next step is ensuring the treatment of Hakob Hakobyan, because he needs surgery,” - Karen Vardanyan said.
The lawyer added that Hakob Hakobyan's release envisages a condition of not leaving the Republic, which can be violated only by the permission of the investigator.
