The Turkish government was surprised by how organized the Armenians were: Yervand
Azatian

YEREVAN, 27 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. According to member of the board of directors of the U.S. and Canada Offices of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party (Ramgavar) Yervand Azatian, the Turkish government was surprised to see how organized the Armenians were as they were organizing the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. “The Turks thought that we Armenians couldn’t hold the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. However, we held them brilliantly, and this helped renew my faith in the unity and organization of the Armenian people,” Azatian said during an April 27 press conference and added that the Kardashians’ visit and System of a Down’s concert were simply invaluable in terms of raising global awareness, as “Armenpress” reports.

Touching upon U.S. President Barack Obama’s statement, Yervand Azatian mentioned that he is the only U.S. President who has conducted an in-depth study on the Armenian Genocide. “The use of the word ‘genocide’ by the U.S. President will have political consequences and may serve as an impetus for Israel to recognize the Armenian Genocide as well,” he noted and added that Barack Obama had stressed the fact that Turkey must confront its past during a speech in front of Turkish parliamentarians.
