Armenian FM expresses gratitude to Argentine counterpart for fight for genocide prevention

YEREVAN, 25 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. On April 25, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Edward Nalbandyan met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina Héctor Timerman, who is in Armenia to participate in the events commemorating the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. As the Department of Press, Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to his Argentine counterpart for participating in the commemorative events in Yerevan.

 The sides touched upon various issues on the agenda of bilateral relations and the partnership between the parliaments of both countries. The two ministers underscored the importance of combining the efforts of the international community in the struggle against genocide and crimes against humanity. Nalbandyan also attached importance to the international community’s combined efforts in preventing genocides and expressed gratitude to Argentina for co-authoring the Genocide Prevention Resolution introduced by Armenia in the UN Human Rights Council.

 After the meeting, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Argentina Edward Nalbandyan and Héctor Timerman and First Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina Norma Abdala de Matarazzo planted a fir tree in memory of former President of Argentina Nestor Carlos Kirchner and as a token of appreciation of his contributions to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
