Lavrov hopes for normalization of relations between Yerevan and Ankara

Lavrov hopes for normalization of relations between Yerevan and Ankara

YEREVAN, 22 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. Moscow will contribute to the entry into force of the documents signed between Turkey and Armenia. This is what Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said in Moscow on April 22, as “Armenpress” reports. “We support the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. We’re making a lot of efforts for that,” Lavrov said in an interview with Sputnik, Ekho Moskvi and Govorit Moskva radio stations.

According to him, a couple of years ago, Russia supported the process of development of the Protocols devoted to the relations that was initiated at the initiative of Yerevan and Ankarra. “The documents were signed, but unfortunately, they didn’t enter into force because in this stage, Turkey didn’t ratify them. However, we will actively contribute to the entry into force of the documents,” the Russian foreign minister mentioned.

This shows that Lavrov is indirectly highlighting the fact that Turkey was the reason why the Turkey-Armenia Protocols weren’t ratified.
