YEREVAN, 21 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. The Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights of the PACE has expressed its concern about the sentence pronounced upon Azerbaijani human rights activist Rasul Jafarov with a corresponding statement. As “Armenpress” reports, this is what member of the Armenian Delegation to the PACE Arpine Hovhannisyan wrote on her Facebook page.

“This morning the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights of the PACE adopted a statement in which it was mentioned that ‘the Committee was shocked by the severity of the sentence pronounced upon Azerbaijani human rights activist Rasul Jafarov’. It is clear that the allegations are false and that he is a victim of political persecutions. Once again, the Azerbaijani authorities showed their atrocious and intolerant behavior. The only thing that that activist was guilty of was that he had dared to go to the PACE and speak about the current humiliating situation in his country.”
