Putin's Armenia trip for Genocide anniversary not to harm ties with Turkey: Peskov

YEREVAN, APRIL 20, ARMENPRESS. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin's visit to Yerevan to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of Armenian Genocide during the Ottoman Empire will not harm relations with Turkey. “Armenpress” reports about this citing TASS.

"We have very tight partner relations with the Republic of Turkey that have a very strong base in mutual economic cooperation. Our positions on many global problems coincide," Peskov told journalists in regard to possible negative implications on the construction of the Turkish Stream pipeline if Putin arrives in Yerevan for the commemoration ceremony.

"These events cannot bring anyone any harm," Peskov added.

By the invitation of the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will visit Armenia to participate in the events, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. Armenpress reports that the press service of the Kremlin informed about it.

“In the framework of the visit, the presidents of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin, will meet and discuss issues related to the bilateral agenda and cooperation in integration unions, as well as urgent regional and international issues”, - says the statement.
