Armenia’s Deputy Justice Minister introduces draft law “On Non-Governmental Organization”
YEREVAN, 8 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. During an April 8 press conference,Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arsen Mkrtchyanintroduced the draft of the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Non-Governmental Organizations”, which was developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia. “By the draft law, it is envisaged to expand the powers of non-governmental organizations and provide the opportunity for unification of civil and legal persons. The law will entitle non-governmental organizations to choose a model of administration for their organizations. According to the new regulations, organizations must submit two kinds of reports. If a non-governmental organization is self-sufficient, it must submit a report to its members. If a non-governmental organization is funded from the state or community budgets, it must submit a report to state bodies,”he informed and added that by the draft of the above mentioned law, NGOs shall be allowed to engage volunteers and be involved in entrepreneurial activity, as well as appeal to court with cases related to culture and nature protection, as “Armenpress” reports.
Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Armenia Hoa-Binh Adjemian mentioned that the draft of the Law “On Non-Governmental Organizations” falls in line with European standards. “The proposals presented during several discussions with the interested parties are reflected in the final version of the draft law,” he noted.
