Yerevan, 7 April, ARMENPRESS. On 7th April Vardan Yeghiazaryan, the Deputy Chief and General Major of the Police received Kate Pochapsky, Officer-in-Charge of the UNHCR Representation in Armenia, Susanna Grigoryan, the UNHCR Assistant Protection Officer, Hovhannes Poghosyan, the Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Police Headquarters and Nelly Muradyan, the Deputy Head of the Legal Department, were present at the meeting as well.

According to the Department of Public Relations and Maas Media of RA Police report to ArmenPress, during the meeting a number of issues regarding cooperation between the two agencies were discussed, ensuring protection of the rights of stateless persons and activities aimed at reduction of statelessness in Armenia, in particular.

Deputy Chief Mr. Yeghiazaryan thoroughly presented the draft law on making amendments in the Citizenship Law endorsed through the first hearing by the National Assembly on 4th March, which is directly aimed at reduction of statelessness. The parties highlighted the importance of this legislative initiative finding it very positive. They noted that it materialised owing to the efforts of the two agencies. In conclusion, the parties discussed the main directions of joint projects to be implemented in the future.
