YEREVAN, 2 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. The bust of writer, publicist, state and political figure of the Republic of Armenia, Commander-in-Chief Vazgen Sargsyan has been unveiled in Syunik Province.

As the Department of Information and Public Relations of the regional council of Syunik Province of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, young sculptor N. Ordyan is the creator of the bust made of copper and placed at the Baghaburji Memorial Complex of Kapan with a contribution from Governor of Syunik Province Surik Khachatryan and at the initiative of Mayor of Kapan A. Hayrapetyan. Among those attending the opening ceremony were Vazgen Sargsyan’s brother, Advisor to the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sargsyan, representatives of the Republican Party of Armenia and the Union of Volunteer Defenders of the Land, as well as young defenders of the land, citizens and guests.

Governor of Syunik Province of the Republic of Armenia, chairman of the regional organization of the Republican Party of Armenia in Syunik Province, chairman of the UVDL Syunik branch Surik Khachatryan gave his opening remarks. “Vazgen Sargsyan played an invaluable role in and made invaluable contributions to the development of Armenian statehood and the Armenian army. From the very first days of the movement, Vazgen Sargsyan, who was a member of the Union of Writers of Armenia, a writer and publicist, was one of the first freedom fighters. The Commander-in-Chief was the commander of all the voluntary detachments. He was very reputable, and the pro-national act of protecting the borders of the homeland from the enemy was carried out under his direction,” Surik Khachatryan said.
