Status quo in Karabakh conflict zone unacceptable for France

YEREVAN, MARCH 31, ARMENPRESS: France is concerned over the escalation of the tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the line of contact and does not spare efforts so that the situation does not worsen after the meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev, in Paris and the made efforts. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentier stated about it in the talk with Armenpress, adding that Francois Hollande demonstrates a greater involvement in the peace process of the conflict.
“As most of the observers, I am also quite concerned over the escalation of the tension of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the line of contact. France does not spare efforts so that the situation does not worsen after the meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev, in Paris and the efforts, made by the French co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group. The President of France Francois Hollande demonstrates a greater involvement in the peace process of this conflict. We are certain that the negotiated solution and the global agreement, based on the three Madrid Principles, should continue being predictable. Status quo is unacceptable”, - said the Ambassador.
A fortified group of the Azerbaijani special task forces attacked the positions located in the Southern (Gyulistan) direction on March 19 at around 08:30. Due to the operation, which lasted about two hours, the position’s staff and the assisting forces, compelled the rival to flee. Our troops chased the rival and totally eliminated the group by their positions. The Press Service of the Ministry of Defense of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic informed Armenpress that the Defense Army servicemen Hakob G. Khachatryan (born in 1996), Eduard G. Hayrapetyan (born in 1995) and Arshak K. Harutyunyan (born in 1995) courageously sacrificed their lives facing the rival. Another 4 servicemen of the Defense Army were injured. The condition of the two of them is extremely serious. By the data provided by the Armenian side, at least 12 soldiers of the Azerbaijani forces were killed during the subversive action, initiated by the rival.
