Government to gear part of funds from newly issued Eurobonds to repurchase previous bonds
YEREVAN, 26 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. Out of the $500 million dollar Eurobonds issued recently, the Armenian government will be spending $200 million to repurchase the Eurobonds issued in 2013. This is what Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan announced during a government session today, as “Armenpress” reports.
Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia Pavel Safaryan mentioned that the remainder of the sum from the recently issued Eurobonds, which will be transferred to the bank account of Armenia’s Central Treasury, will be included in Armenia’s budget system and stabilization fund. The funds will be geared towards the implementation of various government programs and projects.
Taking into account the rate applied during the transfer of funds following the second distribution of government bonds, Prime Minister Abrahamyan suggested modifying the draft and submitting it to the staff of the government within two days.
