YEREVAN, MARCH 18, ARMENPRESS. The FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov will address the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan on the issue of the two teams’ participation in the tournaments held in neighboring countries.

As reports “Armenpress” citing R-sport website, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov stated: “I will apply to the Chairmen of the Chess Federations of Armenia and Azerbaijan. World Cup tournament will be held in Baku this year; Baku will also host Chess Olympiad next year. By all means, we would like to see the strongest teams, like the Armenian and Azerbaijani teams, participating in the tournaments.”

“We’ll apply not merely the Chairmen of the Chess Federations, but the heads of the countries as well. We want various political phenomena to stay outside of the chess hall,” Kirsan Ilyumzhinov concluded.
