YEREVAN, 6 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. UN-Habitat is developing new international principles for municipal spatial planning that will also be applied in Armenia through a pilot project. The principles are targeted for introduction of the latest methods of urban development and spatial planning and for the stable development of residences.

In an interview with “Armenpress”, Deputy Minister of Urban Development of the Republic of Armenia Ruzan Alaverdyan informed that UN-Habitat recently developed a new guideline that includes the latest methodology for municipal planning.

Inter-Regional Adviser for UN-Habitat Paulius Kulikauskasinformed that the project for Armenia will be developed after a workshop. “The project will be approved during the final session in late April. When the principles are specified, the UN will work with certain countries and will try to localize those principles in the given countries,” she said, adding that UN-Habitat wants to see the principles applied.
