Armenia and Austria to develop joint action plan for emergency situations

YEREVAN, 26 FEBRUARY, ARMENPRESS. On February 26, Minister of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia Armen Yeritsyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Armenia (seat in Vienna) Alois Kraut and military attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in Moscow, Colonel Platert. As the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, the goal of the visit was to develop with the Government of the Republic of Armenia a joint action plan for evacuation of the population in emergency situations. This was the Ambassador’s first visit to the ministry and was of a cognitive nature.

Greeting the guests, Minister Yeritsyan presented the general activities of the ministry in the fields of emergency situations and territorial administration.

Expressing gratitude for the cordial reception, Ambassador Kraut mentioned that there are many Austrian tourists and Austrians carrying out various working plans in Armenia and that the Austrian side would like to develop with the Government of the Republic of Armenia a joint action plan for emergency situations. With this purpose, Austria’s disaster relief team of three representatives from Austria’s Ministries of Defense, Internal Affairs and Foreign Affairs will be in Armenia starting from April 15th. The team’s first stop will be Gyumri where the Austrian Development Agency is renovating the local children’s hospital and is working with disabled youth to help make social integration easier for them. On April 16, the disaster relief team will visit Zvartnots Airport and the sites in Armenia where there are many tourists and where there are more disaster risks.
