Casillas, a legend in the making

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 23, ARMENPRESS: Iker Casillas will never forget his first game as a Real Madrid player in Elche. Armenpress reports, citing the Spanish Marca that the keeper has now marked his 500th 'Los Blancos' domestic league game, a milestone he was able to celebrate with a victory, the 328th, which makes him the most successful Real Madrid player in La Liga history. He even did it in style, keeping a clean sheet for the third game running.
As if that were not enough, he has also now played 710 competitive 'Los Blancos' matches, a number that, alongside Manolo Sanchis, ranks him second in the list of most capped players, only topped by Raúl, with 741. After the game, Casillas was asked if he now had Raúl's record for having made the most Real Madrid appearances in his sights. "We are talking about a legendary player, his stats are incredible. You don't think about getting to a number, you just keep going and the games keep coming", he said.
Casillas feels blessed to have had the experiences that have come his way. "I am grateful. Being part of Real Madrid it will be difficult to do it, but I'm very happy for every game I get to play for Real and hope that many more come my way". Finally, a look back at what he has achieved in his career: "My career has brought a lot of great things. You learn from everything, from the good and the bad, luckily there have been a lot more of the good things".
