School in Hatsik village of Armavir Province renovated through funding from COAF

YEREVAN, 9 FEBRUARY, ARMENPRESS. On February 9, Minister of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia Armen Yeritsyan received President of the Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) Garo Armen, Executive Director of COAF Armenia Anush Yedigaryan and Advisor John Evans. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and develop joint projects for reforms in education, healthcare, child and family support services, social sectors, as well as infrastructural reforms. As the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, greeting the participants of the meeting, Minister Yeritsyan mentioned that he highly appreciated the projects that the charitable organization has been carrying out since 2004 and the results of those projects.

The minister presented the current primary issues in the provinces and especially in the bordering villages, as well as provided details about the issues and questions that villagers raise during the minister’s visits to the provinces. “The villagers mainly demand drinking water and water for irrigation, as well as gasification and road construction. There is a need to solve the problems with heating at school gyms for children so that they can attend gymnastics lessons. There is also a problem with protecting schools from the enemy’s shootings in the bordering villages,” Armen Yeritsyan mentioned.

On February 11, the renovated school in Hatsik village of Armavir Province will reopen through funding provided by the COAF. For the past decade, the Children of Armenia Fund has been working in the rural communities of the Baghramyan region of Armavir Province and has also, within the framework of the project, engaged the rural communities of the Talin region of Aragatsotn Province throughout the past four years. There are a total of 30,000 beneficiaries, of which 7,000 are children.
