Major events dedicated to Armenian Genocide centenary to begin from March

YEREVAN, JANUARY 30, ARMENPRESS. The events to be led on April 22-24 will be the climax of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Notwithstanding, there will be scientific, educational and cultural ceremonies before and after them. The Coordinator of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Vigen Sargsyan stated this at the course of the press conference held on January 30.

As reports “Armenpress”, among other things Vigen Sargsyan underscored: “The first major event will be held on March 18-20. The international media forum titled “On Foothills of Ararat”, which will be fully dedicated to the Armenian Genocide anniversary. We are working with the regional committees, to provide participation of various influential international and regional media in the upcoming forum.”

In addition Sargsyan noted that this can serve as a good occasion to prepare those journalists for coverage of the April 24 events.

Previously it was reported that Following the session of the State Commission on Coordination of the events for the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, President Serzh Sargsyan, in company with the commission members and the participants of the enlarged session, today visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex, laid a wreath at the Memorial to the Victims of the Mets Eghern and paid tribute to the memories of the innocent victims. Later on, the members of the state commission familiarized with the preparatory works of the new exhibition to be held at the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute.

At the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex there also took place the promulgation ceremony of the Pan-Armenian Declaration on the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The declaration was adopted unanimously at today's session of the State Commission on Coordination of the events for the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. President Serzh Sargsyan read the document and deposited it with the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute.
