YEREVAN, 27 JANUARY, ARMENPRESS. The precondition for success in the negotiation process is the creation of a confidence-building mechanism, which must first be expressed through compliance with the rules of the ceasefire regime at the frontline. This means there is a need to put an end to all types of shootings, dislocate snipers and create an investigatory mechanism. This is what Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan said. According to “Armenpress”, Ohanyan attaches importance to the creation of investigatory mechanisms in order to specify which side violates the ceasefire regime and condemn the side violating the agreement.

  “As the head of a military structure, I find that it is the creation of investigatory mechanisms that will help clearly decide which side violates and condemn the side that has committed the violation. In this sense, the Minsk Group surely has a lot of work to do. If there is no mechanism, then the Armenian army’s specific operations are the mechanism for restraint,” Ohanyan said during a January 27 press conference at the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, stressing the fact that the Armenian side views dialogue as a priority, but for that there is a need to create a necessary atmosphere to achieve success in the process of negotiations.
