Azerbaijani diversionists changed their minds and will appeal verdict at NKR Court of
Appeals

STEPANAKERT, 27 JANUARY, ARMENPRESS. Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyet, who are members of the Azerbaijani investigative-diversion group having illegally crossed the state border of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic through Shahumyan and whom the first instance court of general jurisdiction of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic sentenced to life in prison and 22 years in prison, respectively on 29 December 2014, will appeal the verdict. As “Armenpress” reports, this is what the Azerbaijani diversionists’ lawyers Erik Beglaryan and Arkadi Israyelyan said in an interview with “Artsakhpress” a short while ago. “My defendant hadn’t planned on appealing the verdict reached by the first instance court of general jurisdiction of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic in the beginning, but he had some disagreements with the court’s ruling and now wants to appeal to the Court of Appeals of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic,” Asgarov’s attorney Beglaryan said.

Defendant Guliyev’s attorney Arkadi Israelyan also stated that, taking into consideration his defendant’s claim, he will be appealing to the Court of Appeals of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. According to Israyelyan, after submission of the appeal, the Court of Appeals of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic will examine the appeal in the manner prescribed by law and, if substantiated, will take a decision within a month.
